What is the proper way to wear wrist wraps?

If you’re serious about lifting heavy and pushing your limits, the right gear isn’t optional—it’s essential. That’s where powerlifting wraps come in. Designed to provide stability and support under maximum load, they help you stay locked in whether you’re grinding through a PR squat, bench, or deadlift.

At Raw Strength Apparel, our strong wraps are built for lifters who demand durability and performance. They’re crafted to give you the perfect balance of rigidity and comfort, so you can focus on your lift—not your gear. Whether you prefer a tighter wrap for competition-level support or a more flexible feel for training sessions, the right wraps make all the difference.

Don’t overlook the importance of wrist wraps, either. Your wrists take a beating under heavy weight, especially during pressing movements. Quality wrist wraps help keep your joints aligned, reduce strain, and boost confidence under the bar.

When every rep counts, trust gear that works as hard as you do. Upgrade your setup with premium wraps and experience the difference in strength, control, and performance.

When it comes to lifting heavier and protecting your joints, knowing the proper way to wear wrist wraps can make a big difference in both performance and safety.

Start by positioning the wrap so it sits just above your wrist joint—not too far up your forearm and not directly on your hand. The goal is to support the joint itself. Loop the thumb strap (if included) around your thumb to anchor the wrap, then begin wrapping snugly around your wrist. Each pass should overlap slightly, creating even pressure without cutting off circulation.

The tightness of your wrist wraps should depend on your lift. For heavy pressing movements like bench press or overhead press, a tighter wrap provides maximum stability. For lighter lifts or movements requiring more mobility, you may prefer a looser wrap.

Make sure the wrap feels secure but not painful. You should still be able to move your fingers freely without numbness or tingling. Once secured, fasten the wrap firmly so it doesn’t loosen mid-set.

Wearing wrist wraps correctly helps keep your wrists in a strong, neutral position—allowing you to lift with more confidence, reduce strain, and get the most out of every rep.
